Welcome to the Shorin-Ryu Butokukan of Williamsburg website!
The Shorin-Ryu Karate School is Williamsburg’s premier training center for traditional karate- an alternative to the costly, contract-based martial art schools found today. The benefits of our training go beyond powerful self-defense skills. Weight loss, stress relief, whole body fitness, focus and confidence make our classes an invaluable investment for families and individuals. We are a big family at our club and costs are kept extremely affordable for individuals and families. Our school is the USA headquarters for Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Karate Butokukan Association in Okinawa, Japan under grandmaster Sokuichi Gibu, Hanshi/10th degree black belt. Our Chief Instructor is John Spence, who is also a well-known 5th Grade teacher here in Williamsburg. ”Our greatest responsibility is to teach martial arts as it has been passed down to us from our teachers in Japan.
